I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Samantha Reid as the Associate Vice-President, Students, for the UBC Vancouver Campus, effective April 15, 2024.
Dr. Reid joined UBC in 2015, serving initially as the Director of Research in the Faculty of Medicine. Since September 2019, when Dr. Reid began as the Executive Director, Office of the VPS, the position has expanded to include leadership of Student Conduct and Safety, Strategic IBPOC Initiatives, Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program, Student Communications, Strategic Projects and Initiatives, Evaluation and Analysis, and the UBC Investigations Office. Dr. Reid has also assumed a level of leadership for various UBC-wide institutional initiatives including Tuition Consultation, Student Affordability Task Force Implementation, Threat Assessment Committee, and the World Events Working Group.
Samantha’s title will shift from Executive Director to Associate Vice-President, Students, UBC Vancouver to align with the scope and level of responsibility of the position. Please note there will be no changes to current reporting relationships or portfolio distribution.
